Maritzarda tells Awakening, “When I was young my father used to box and my cousin Richel Hersisia, was a world champion in heavy weight boxing. It inspired me a lot. In 2003 at the age of 21, I went to a gym with a friend of mine and started doing Sanshou, a Chinese way of Kickboxing. Soon I changed to Muay Thai.”

Maritzarda Hersisia’s Bio

Maritzarda Hersisia is a female fighter from Maastricht, Netherlands.

She started martial arts at the age of 21 with Sanshou. Soon she changed to Muay Thai and was fighting actively for a couple of years. After a break of 2 years, she entered the ring again back in November 2013. She felt home right away.

Her trainer and manager is Ben Boekee, who is also owner of Team Thriving.

At this moment she is trying to have some great experiences for a couple more years and together with her trainer Ben Boekee trying to get the best out of her, mentally and physically.

Personal Life

Maritzarda Hersisia was born on the 24th of October 1982 in Maastricht, Holland. Her mother is Dutch and her father is from the Netherlands Antilles. Maritzarda works (besides training and fighting) at an insurance company and is a mom of two twin boys.
