Nicola Adams’ Bio
Nicola Adams is a female Boxer from Leeds, England.
Nicola began her career in Boxing with her first bout at the age of 13, but it was four years before she found a second opponent. In 2001, she became the first female boxer to represent England in recognised international competition.
In 2012, women’s boxing was included in the Olympic Games for the first time. Nicola Adams won Gold, making her the first woman to win an Olympic boxing title, and the first woman to win Gold at both the Olympic and Commonwealth Games.
Nicola is the first female Boxer to be awarded by the Boxing Writers’ Club of Great Britain, and the first woman to ever be invited to the club’s awards ceremony.
Personal Life
Nicola is openly gay, and was the first openly gay athlete to win an Olympic Boxing Gold medal in 2012.
