Sai

Summary

Sai is a traditional pronged weapon, primarily used to stab, trap, block and also catch an opponent’s weapon. When they use Sai, practitioners carry it in both hands, but the weapon can also be thrown.

HISTORY

The Sai is historically present in Okinawan and other Asian weapon arsenals. In medieval times, this weapon evolved from a pitchfork. It has been used in various techniques of karate and also against swords in defense attacks.

PRESENT DAY

Sai is now an accurate weapon used for striking and is also a training weapon for Karate.
