Thanks for reading this article! If you are taking the time out to see what this Patreon thing is all about, then you are no doubt a regular visitor to our website. So we thank you again for that! My name is Rew Mitchell and I’m the owner of Awakening and we have decided to start a Patreon page in the hope that we can continue to exist into the future. Patreon is a crowdfunding platform that allows visitors to contribute a tiny amount each month to make a creators efforts sustainable. By “creator” I mean the Awakening team. Here’s an example of how it works: More
Today is a great day for the Awakening team, spirits are even higher than usual. We’re so happy to have reached 10,000 female fighter profiles! It’s taken us three years and we still have a long way to go. Our small team are dedicated to the cause, we enjoy the researching of info, messaging athletes back and forth, and we appreciate being corrected – right down to the minor details. There’s no point in doing any of this if the info is incorrect! We absolutely love hearing back from athletes who have received sponsorship, or some new opportunity assisted by the third party being sent the link to the athletes profile. On those days, working on Awakening is simply golden!
The female fighter database has now become a monster. On average, we’re able to add 200-300 new athletes a month and update 600-1000. Over time we will be able to do much more, we’re currently still held back by switching everyone’s fight histories over to the new format. Each profile can take anything between 20 minutes and 16 hours. Go check out Sylvie von Duuglas-Ittu or Valentina Shevchenko for the 16 hour profiles! To be fair, some of that time would have been spent just sitting back and wondering how a fighter could be so prolific! It’s a lot of fun what we do, and we hope in some way that we are a small part of the growth of female combat sports.
If you would like to help us continue to making a difference there are few small things that can be done by anyone and would mean the world: share our facebook page, Like our content, retweet us, add a link to your profile on a website, facebook, twitter or even as part of an email signature. These kinds of things really can help us grow. More
In the recent Riders on the storm article we broke down some of the difficulties we faced over the last three months. Now it’s time for us to share some great Awakening news! Yes, its Website 3.1 and this is a serious update!

Admittedly from the outside it may appear that we haven’t been very active since February. Rest assured, the only area we have been slacking in is with the posting of articles. This we apologize for!
So what have we been doing? To put it simply (and to be transparent because that’s what you deserve), it’s been a mixture of profile updates, unforeseen difficult personal circumstances for a couple of the team members, and more profile updates! More
It might have been noticed that we have posted fewer articles during September. We have been doing an experiment to see how much we could achieve on the database without having resources focused on posting articles. The results were startling! Along with the typical monthly tweaks shown below and a few great additions, you can see some of the statistics achieved during the experiment. Whilst it was a worthwhile test for us, we will be returning to posting articles again. However our time will be balanced more effectively in future between articles and updating the database. Here is our lists of updates taking us to website update 2.3.4. Thank you for your continued support!
