Knapp talks Cyborg’s Lion Fight
Following Cristiane Justino’s impressive win at Lion Fight Promotions 11 Invicta FC President, Shannon Knapp talked about the lady known as “Cyborg”, combat sports crossover fights, and the growth of Muay Thai in America. “This (LFP 11) was more about Cris than any benefits for Invicta FC,”
Payne vs Van Soest
We were fortunate enough to be ringside for this epic occasion on 26th July 2013 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The event of course was Lion Fight 10, featuring five amateur and six professional bouts. There were two female fights on the card, an amateur bout at 110lbs between Miranda Cayabyab (Milpitas, California) and Angela Hill (New York, USA)

The Hatchet II
We recently travelled to Swansea, Wales to do a fun photo shoot with the young 16 year old up-and-coming Muay Thai fighter Lauren ‘The Hatchet’ Huxley. An exciting fighter that we lovingly named ‘The Hatchet’ (see earlier article), Lauren and her family happily took the name and ran with it.
The Hatchet
It wouldn’t be unusual for you to say you haven’t yet heard the name Lauren Huxley. She is a young up and coming Muay Thai fighter from Swansea, Wales. This sixteen year old models herself on the great Julie Kitchen, the Queen of Muay Thai. We had seen her fight a few times before at small shows and had been impressed at her raw talent.
Spotlight: Sylvie von Duuglas-Ittu
Our 4th Awakening Spotlight brings you Sylvie von Duuglas-Ittu. We’re really pleased to introduce you to this wonderful lady as she has recently agreed to write the occasional article for the website. Sylvie’s discipline is Muay Thai and she’s one of the queens of social media in our eyes, which is one of the reasons we approached her.
Spotlight: Julie Kitchen
Our 3rd Awakening Spotlight brings you Britain’s Julie Kitchen. Where do we start with this one? In the world of Muay Thai, Julie is as revered as a fighter can become. We consider her one of the most inspirational female martial artists of all time. She recently hung up her Muay Thai gloves after dominating the hearts and minds of fans for eleven years.
Clash of the Titans
Clash of the Titans was a mixed Muay Thai event hosted by Touchgloves Gym in Penzance, UK on 4th November, 2012. They had set the venue up in a very atmospheric and fitting way. The arena was dark and misted by a smoke machine, and was reminiscent of the kind of Muay Thai event you might see in Thai movie. There were twenty-three fights in total, seven of which were female.
Kitchen vs Nakamoto
August 18 th 2012. It was a great fight card indeed this evening. There were many male fighters, who all put on a great show, but you’re not on the Awakening page to read about those and we’re not here to write about them. Hats off to them, use Google to find out more.
