How the Awakening community awards work

Why a community based awards? Why not? How often have you looked at the nominees in an awards ceremony and thought someone vital/deserving was missing? Yes, we’ve all done it. These community awards give you the opportunity to have your say…. Before the voting begins, when you can have your say again!

Nominations – Dec 14th – Dec 21st
The community has 7 days to make their nominations. At the end of this period we process all of the nominations. For someone to be considered for nominations their name must be submitted a minimum of 5 times. Obviously we omit any silly nominations, ie Mickey Mouse etc. Due to the volume of submissions we aren’t able to include every nomination in the voting stage. Those nominees that have been nominated many times will automatically be moved into the voting stage. If you are nominating somebody that you feel really deserves to be included but might get overlooked, please email us and let us know why you feel they should be included.

Voting – Dec 20th – Jan 1st*
Once the nominations have been processed and sorted, the voting phase will begin. It takes us 2 days to process the nominations and ready the voting phase. The community is then encouraged to vote for their favourites in each category! The voting phase remains open for 11 days.

At the end of this period the voting is closed and the votes are counted.

Results – Announced approx Jan 7th
Although it only takes us a day to physically count the votes, it takes us an extra few days to create (code) the results pages.

*AMEND.  We sincerely apologize for any mix-up over the date of the voting stage. This confusion was caused due to this article having the wrong date.  The correct date was listed on the awards page itself.
