Terri tells Awakening, “I first started Muay Thai at the age of 38. Having put a lot of weight on over the years I was unhappy, had lost my confidence and was determined to get fit and healthy. I had joined a gym, started classes and PT sessions and my friend signed us up for a White Collar Fighter 8 week training camp. It was through this that I discovered All Powers Gym in Stockport where the training sessions were held. The coaches, particularly Panicos Yusuf and Bilal Remassy (Remi) although tough, they saw something in me and pushed and inspired me every step of the way.
Having not done anything like it before I struggled at first but then it became an addiction and I just wanted to improve at each session. I am so passionate about this sport as it has completely changed my life for the better. I’m fitter, healthier, happier, more confident and the best part is that I retrained as a personal trainer because of it and now get to teach others how to live a healthier life, to get fitter and stronger. I truly believe there is a sport out there for everyone. For me it’s Muay Thai. I just want to inspire others (men, women and children) of all ages to try something new. I have now had 6 C Class Fights 5 Wins and 1 Loss and am Ranked UK #8 in my weight class.
I have goals and dreams, some of which people think are unrealistic because of my age, but that makes me even more determined to prove them wrong. With the right mindset, training, determination and team behind you, there are no limits to what you can accomplish.”
