We recently travelled to Swansea, Wales to do a fun photo shoot with the young 16 year old up-and-coming Muay Thai fighter Lauren ‘The Hatchet’ Huxley. An exciting fighter that we lovingly named ‘The Hatchet’ (see earlier article), Lauren and her family happily took the name and ran with it.

The two inaugural Awakening World Muay Thai Titles took place this past Sunday at Fast & Furious 2 in Penzance, Cornwall, UK. The event marked an emotional and historical notch in the Awakening timeline. Not only were there the two first ever Awakening titles up for grabs, it was actually our first co-sanctioned event.
We want to thank Sylvia Schiavoni, a Muay Thai Champion from Melbourne, Australia. She recently took the time and effort to write a great little article about Awakening in International Kickboxer magazine. We’ve posted the article below in case you are interested in reading it.
As February 1st sees in a new month for the Awakening website, our first month is completed. Due to the response we’ve had, we thought it was only right that we share with you our progress and experiences. The ultimate goal of Awakening is to help raise the global social acceptance of female martial artists, and give the athletes an online home where they feel acknowledged for their hard work.
We thought we needed to highlight a mini issue that a tiny percentage of you will have come across in the Global Female Martial Artists Register. There are a handful of broken links due to our own error of inputting them incorrectly. Fortunately each time someone clicks on a broken link it is flagged to us immediately. As soon as we see the flag we correct the link.
Essentially, an athletes rating directly relates to what they have achieved during their time practicing martial arts. So after a long career, this system allows other to see just how inspirational an athlete is. The most important thing to understand about our rating system is that we can only calculate based on the information we have on each profile.
We’re finally here with our website. I know right? We hope you like it, let us know what you think. We’ve plenty of exciting ideas for the future which we feel will help female martial artists gain the recognition that they deserve. For now, let us talk you through what the website is all about.
