In the combat sports industry, few spectacles ignite anticipation and captivate fans like the MMA. If you’re a fan of the MMA, 2023 comes packed with several hyped matches worth seeing or at least betting on.

From championship matches to returning stars and sports icons. Some fights are already booked and fought, while others are yet to be fought or are still in discussion.

What hyped MMA fight should you watch this 2023? For example, if you're looking for MMA fights as hyped as the Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz professional boxing match, you've come to the right place.

This article will delve into the most hyped upcoming MMA fights in 2023.

Top 4 Most Anticipated MMA Fights for 2023

The Elon Musk vs Mark Zuckerberg cage fight is one of the most talked about MMA fights in 2023. The idea of a cage fight started when Musk Tweeted about the rival app Threads.

The idea of the match started as a joke, but things seem to be getting more realistic with pictures circulating the internet of Zuckerberg training.

According to reports, White (UFC President) is helping organize an exhibition match between the tech CEOs. Unfortunately, an exhibition agreement has not materialized between Musk and Zuckerberg.

But we can't say with certainty if the match will hold or not. However, we know some MMA fights in 2023 will hold. These matches have been making their rounds literally everywhere and are a must-watch if you're an MMA fan.

Below are the top four most anticipated MMA fights for 2023.

1. McGregor vs Chandler

This UFC fight is one of the most discussed MMA fights in 2023. The Notorious has been out of the MMA since UFC 264 in July 2021 due to his fibula and tibia fracture.

The return of the Irishman to the octagon will be at welterweight with three-time Bellator Chandler. A victory in this match for McGregor means he would be on a path to dethrone the British star Leon Edwards if he wants to become the first three-weight champion in UFC history.
But as when writing this article, an official date has yet to be confirmed for when the Notorious will return to the UFC.

2. Mick Parkin vs Jamal Pogues (Heavyweight)

According to an announcement by Iridium Sports Agency on Twitter, the undefeated heavyweight Mike Parkin will take on Jamal Pogues. Parkin is an intriguing prospect in the UFC heavyweight division.

The Sunderland fighter made his professional MMA debut in July 2019 and has come a long way since then, winning six consecutive fights. Parkin earned his UFC contract in August 2022 after defeating Eduardo Neves by first-round submission.

In contrast, Pogues is a professional MMA fighter with 8 wins and 3 losses. He got his UFC contract following after defeating Paulo Renato Jr. by unanimous decision.

3. Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic (Heavyweight Title)

Minted division champion Jon Jones vs former two-time title holder Stipe Miocic has been in discussion over the past years about a potential matchup.
After much back and forth and deliberation, the two combat sports legends will square off in the headliner of UFC 295 in November at the Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Jones is a two-time light heavyweight champion with a record of 27 wins and 1 loss in MMA, attempting to make his first heavyweight title by returning to the octagon from a three-year layoff at UFC 285 in March.

Whereas Miocic is a two-time heavyweight champ with the most title fight victories in UFC heavyweight history, also returning to the octagon after almost a three-year layoff in his own right.

4. Alexa vs Valentina (Women Flyweight Title)

Talks about this fight after the UFC 285 event during which Alexa Grasso submitted the long-reining champion, Valentina Shevchenko, have been circulating in the media. This fight is a sequel and will be held in Las Vegas on the 16th of September, 2023.

The UFC deciding the match should be held on the 16th of September is a smart move considering it can also be a way for the UFC to partake in celebrating the Mexican Independence Day with its Mexican fighters.

Conclusion

In summary, the 2023 MMA schedule has numerous hyped matches to look forward to. These monumental classes between top fighters will surely leave a memorable mark in the hearts of many fans globally, so if you'd like to attend any of these matches, it's best to start planning towards it early enough.
